Killer to be paroled

-

Wellington: A man jailed for life for murdering a police officer as a teenager will be paroled this month.

Daniel John Luff, who is now 37, was sentenced for the murder of Detective Constable Duncan Taylor in 2002 and the attempted murder of another officer.

The officers had followed Luff to his estranged girlfriend’s home, where he opened fire with a shotgun.

Luff is banned from possessing a firearm or obtaining a firearms licence, and will have electronic monitoring on his release on May 25. — RNZ
