Victim formally identified

Owaka: Police have formally identified the victim of a suspected hitandrun in the Catlins.

Yesterday, police said they could confirm the victim was 33yearold Rikki McCall, of Owaka.

Mr McCall was found on Owaka Valley Rd near Owaka at 12.20am on Sunday.

A police spokeswoman said they still wanted to speak to anyone who was in the area between 8pm on Saturday, May 7, and 4am on Sunday.

She would not confirm if police had any leads at this stage, nor if Mr McCall’s family intended to make a public appeal for information.

Mr McCall, a farmer, was married with two daughters. His funeral will be held in Owaka on Saturday afternoon.
