Extradited over killing

-

SYDNEY: Police have extradited a woman living in New Zealand over the killing of a 2yearold girl more than 30 years ago.

The cold case dates back to mid1987, when the toddler was allegedly murdered and her remains disposed of at a rural property at Porters Retreat in central NSW.

In October 2019, detectives from the Unsolved Homicide Unit received a tipoff about the young girl's disappearance.

This led to a 70yearold man being arrested on November 16, 2021, at Porters Retreat and charged over the killing. He remains before the courts.

On the same day, New Zealand police arrested a 59yearold woman in Palmerston North, in relation to a NSW warrant.

She has been held in custody in New Zealand since then, as Australian authorities worked to seek her extradition. Detectives have now escorted the woman back to Sydney. — AAP
