Three arrested over occupation

WELLINGTON: One of three people arrested yesterday over the unlawful occupation of Parliament is facing charges relating to the lighting of fires on the final day of the protest.

Tasman police executed two search warrants yesterday morning in Golden Bay, where two people were arrested.

A 29yearold man has been charged with intentiona­l damage and doing a dangerous act with intent.

Both charges relate to fires that broke out on Parliament grounds on March 2, Detective Superinten­dent Peter Read said in a statement.

A 29yearold woman has been charged with doing a dangerous act with intent and rioting.

They are due to appear in the Nelson District Court on Monday.

A third person, a 50yearold man, was arrested in Nelson and will face charges of assault with a weapon, doing a dangerous act with intent and rioting.

He appeared in Nelson District Court yesterday.
