Ampaigning on both sides of Tasman

“He is loving it so far,” she said. “He’s over there for three months, but I think he is getting a bit comfortable already, even with all the rain. He is happy being in the rain.”

Stable runner He’s Got Power will begin his Queensland campaign at Eagle Farm today when he contests the listed Channel 7 Members’ Handicap over 1600m.

The son of Power finished eighth at Riccarton over 1200m firstup last month and Tyler said that prepared him nicely for his trip across the Tasman.

“He just needed that run under his belt before heading over to Queensland,” she said.

“Dad has been really happy with him. ‘‘He is ready to start his campaign, so we will see how he goes.”

Back in New Zealand, the stable will have a strong contingent at Ascot Park tomorrow, including a threepronged attack in the Wairio Cup over 2200m.

Kilowatt, Zambezzi Zipper, and Pinhead will represent the Riverton barn in the meeting’s feature, and Tyler is particularly pleased with the last named who has placed in his last three starts.

“He is really enjoying the staying races,” Tyler said.

“He is as bright as a button and I think he will give it a good go.

“Kilowatt is really good. He is happy within himself. I am not sure how he will like the track.

‘‘He is just about to head out for the winter, so we will just have a go with him on Sunday and make a plan from there.

“Zambezi Zipper ran really well on Wednesday. I am really happy with her.

‘‘The wetter the better with her — she has just been waiting for boggy tracks.

“She has come through her race really well and is bright and cheerful, she will give it a good nudge too.”

Of the stable’s other contenders at the meeting, Tyler believes last start runnerup Kitty Power has the ability to go one better in the rating 74 race over 1600m.

“Kitty Power had a really nice race on Wednesday.

‘‘She likes a boggy track. I think she will enjoy it on Sunday,” Tyler said. — NZ Racing Desk
