Academy selections
Eight young motor sport competitors have been selected for the 2022 Elite Motorsport Academy of New Zealand, which will start in late June with a weeklong academy camp at the Otago Academy of Sport.
Race drivers Hugo Allan, Macro Giltrap, Hayden Bakkerus, Zac Christensen and Sebastian Mason will join rally drivers Robbie Stokes and Jackson Clendon as well as speedway racer Troy Pennington to form the academy class of 2022.
First run in 2004, the academy provides tutelage from experts on the ‘‘offtrack’’ elements of motorsport such as nutrition, fitness, media, marketing, sponsorship, and data analysis. Its graduates include international Kiwi stars such as Shane van Gisbergen, Hayden Paddon, Emma Gilmour, Brendon Hartley, Earl Bamber, Nick Cassidy, and Mitch Evans. performance hero vehicle, the new Nissan Z (above).
