Intrigued by callout

RESIDENTS of a flat in central Dunedin peer out at an armed police cordon during a suspected firearm incident yesterday afternoon.

A police spokeswoman said reports of disorder and a firearm discharging were received in relation to a Park St property about 1.30pm.

Armed police attended and cordoned off the street, she said.

The property was cleared shortly after 2pm.

It was determined there was no gunshot, and the suspected sound was likely to have been noise from a building site. The armed offenders squad did not attend, the spokeswoman said.
