Digger used in BP burglary

Wellington: A stolen excavator was used to smash into a service station in Wainuiomata, Lower Hutt.

Police were alerted to the burglary at the BP service station in Wainuiomata Rd just before 2.30am on Sunday.

Officers, including a dog handler, were in the area soon after but were unable to locate any offenders, police said.

The excavator was taken from a nearby construction site, police said. — RNZ
