Pension age rise would be tough on some

- Gary McEwan

THE recent comments by Act party leader David Seymour regarding the eligibility age for the pension should be raised from 65 to 69, would be a blow to many in society, such as builders, shearers, farriers, construction and forestry workers and a host of others whose careers involve a good deal of manual labour and over a lifetime it takes it toll on the body.

There is no doubt in my mind that if the Act party ever obtained a say in policy you would be much more likely to get a telegram from the Queen than ever reaching the age of eligibility for the pension.
