Van found burnt on roadside

Herbert: Police are investigating after a burntout van was found on the side of a North Otago road yesterday morning.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand was called at 7.40am to MacLean Rd near Herbert where the damaged vehicle was found.

A Fenz spokeswoman said when the fire crew found the van it appeared to have been on fire overnight and had already burnt out.

There were no injuries to report and Fenz left the scene with police.

A police spokeswoman confirmed they were following up with the registered owner of the vehicle.
