Deaths due to flooding

-

Gauhati:At least 11 people have died in floods and mudslides caused by heavy rains in India's northeast, officials say.

Several railway stations were not working yesterday because of floods, senior administrative official in Assam's Dima Hasao district Nazreen Ahmed said.

Nearly 200,000 people in the district were cut off from the rest of the state, as roads and bridges were either blocked by landslides or washed away.

Officials said four people were killed on Monday following heavy rains and mudslides in Arunachal Pradesh. Two others died in the state capital, Itanagar, when their houses caved in, and two road construction workers were killed by mudslides.
