Milne’s 60 point haul still top in central rugby
I READ with interest (ODT, 16.5.22) that the 42 points scored by Hayden Todd for Cromwell Goats last Friday night is believed to be a record individual haul for a Central Otago premier club player.
Although this is an impressive achievement, it falls well short of the 60 points that Ralph Milne scored for Matakanui Valley against Alexandra B at Poolburn in 1982. Milne’s haul included nine tries (worth only four points each in those days) and 12 conversions. For the record, Milne also played 48 games for Otago from 198185 and represented the South Island in 1983.
