Request sent to shut down school

- STAFF REPORTER

A REQUEST for the voluntary closure of Glenham School has been made to the Ministry of Education.

The request was made by the school’s commissioner, Nicola Hornsey.

In October last year, the school board of trustees was dissolved and Ms Hornsey was appointed as commissioner to take the place of the board.

In this week’s school’s newsletter, Ms Hornsey said despite many efforts by the community to keep the school open, its ‘‘ongoing operation has become untenable’’.

The school’s principal, Cheryl White, resigned at the end of 2021 to take up a position at Mossburn Primary School.

A meeting will be held on Monday night for members of the community to discuss the matter and ask questions.

Ms Hornsey could not be contacted.
