Gun fired at Papakura house
Auckland: Police are yet to make any arrests following a suspected gang house driveby shooting that left dozens of bullet casings on a suburban driveway on Saturday night.
Officers were called about 7.45pm to reports a firearm had been discharged in the direction of a residential property in Brooke Rd in Red Hill, Papakura.
Nobody was injured.
A local man said he was told police found 44 bullet casings on the targeted house’s driveway.
Dr Urie Bezuidenhout, a former South African military member, heard a sound ‘‘like a loud zipper’’, which he believed was too fast for a conventional firearm.
An officer told him the house — which locals believed was gangaffiliated — had been ‘‘peppered with bullet holes,’’ Dr Bezuidenhout said. —
