Bring bladder cancer detection product south

-

FOR a decade, Southern District Health Board urology patients have been denied the benefits of a gamechanging homegrown innovation.

I refer to Pacific Edge Biotech Cx bladder urothelial cancer detection product developed in Otago University’s Centre for Innovation.

By testing a urine sample, it is possible to very accurately and expeditiously determine whether or not a patient has urothelial cancer anywhere within the urinary tract, thus potentially eliminating the need, cost and risk of a surgical procedure.

As it is being used in most other DHBs in New Zealand, in Singapore, and widely in United States, including the 400 hospitals owned by health insurance giant, Kaiserpermanante, why not SDHB? Ian Breeze
