AFTER a yearlong wait, New Zealand burger brand BurgerFuel is ready to enter the Dunedin market.

The Otago Daily Times understands Dunedin’s first franchise of the now international burger chain will open in late March at a Great King St site in North Dunedin.

BurgerFuel, which opened its first restaurant in Auckland in 1995, called on readers of the ODT to ‘‘quit your day job’’ and start a franchise of the gourmet burger bar in the city in 2017.

Near the end of last year, the Burger Fuel Group Ltd said the group was planning to open another store in Dunedin before the end of this financial year.

The ODT contacted one of the Dunedin franchise owners yesterday, but he referred comment to the company’s head office.

The company did not respond to a request for comment.

A recent online advertisement sought a manager and staff for the Dunedin store.
