MASTERGUARD: FIRE & SECURITY TO PROTECT YOUR MOST VALUABLE ASSET

- By Yang Jiarui

One third of New Zealanders have experienced a burglary, and 63 percent of the burglaries occurred within 24 hours of the homeowner leaving the house, according to a survey conducted by the poll agency Colmar Brunton and AA Insurance.

In Christchurch, an internationally renowned garden city, many families are also suffering from theft. Theft issues in Wigram, Halswell and other areas are getting more rampant. The local police station has even issued an anti-theft notice to remind the public to be alert.

The survey also found that 49 percent of New Zealand homes have a locking system on their doors; 48 percent have a window lock; 34 percent have an audible alarm; and 24 percent have a dog to enhance security.

It also showed that 21 percent of households have chains on their doors; 14 percent have safes to keep their valuables in;

12 percent have surveillance alarms; and 8 percent have security cameras. Only 8 percent of households said they did not have any security measures. “Virtually every family needs a security system,”said Lawrence Yu who currently runs Masterguard (MG), a locally owned company offering a full range of fire, security and safety products and services in the Canterbury region.

“We provide seamless integration of all your security, fire protection and building compliance services; other than that we also integrate with our industry partners for patrols and alarm response services. With one point of contact, either by phone, email, or in person, we can resolve any issues or questions you may have. All of our services are mobile and we are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week,”says Yu, who was born in Malaysia.

“We have a team that is big enough to get the job done, but small enough to offer a personal, customised service to meet your individual requirements, whatever type of domestic or commercial services you may require. We provide services to a variety of clients throughout Canterbury – commercial premises, retail shops, home owners, farmers, schools and government departments,”says the 36-year- old businessman.

Lawrence Yu has lived in New Zealand for 17 years. After studying and working in medical laboratory for ten years, he chose to change his career path.

Yu says he wants to bring the best service to customers. He also provides practical advices from a professional perspective. He believes that a security system is essential for every household and premises.

“The competition in this field is very strong. MG has always strived to bring integrity, professionalism, and excellent quality to customers. Whether it is pre-sales guidance or after-sales service, I hope to gain customer recognition and let everyone see our intrinsic value.”

Similar to medicine that he has been devoted to for years, he chose to protect other’s life and safety in a different way, which has been his dream that he continues to pursue.
