Another week, another political party leader’s resignation offered. Such is the speed and volatility of this year’s general election, it is hard to predict or comprehend what’s going to happen next. Already around the district election signs have begun to either be taken down or ‘‘altered’’. I have seen Jacinda Ardern’s picture cut out of a billboard which originally featured the now former party co-leader Andrew Little. And the now single portrait picture of Ardern is popping up next to Bill English’s signs all over the district. Likewise, there are billboards for the Green Party featuring the now former coleader, Metiria Turei, and James Shaw. Will those signs face the same treatment as the Labour Party ones? We’ll have to wait and see. By now you would have read Katrina Tanirau’s page 1 article on Jacinda’s visit home to Morrinsville. Her popularity is rising but does she have the policy and planning to take New Zealanders forward for the next three-year term? Something to consider before casting your vote in September.
