Guest speaker for awards
Former New Zealand cricket and 2011 Rugby World Cup chief executive Martin Sneddon will be the guest speaker at this year’s Matamata-Piako Business Awards.
Sneddon was also the chief executive of New Zealand Cricket.
He was also involved in the World Masters Games 2017 and Auckland CBD’s business association.
He will speak at the awards night, at the Silver Fern Farms Events Centre, Te Aroha, October 12. Nominations opened recently.
Nominations for the Gull Customer Service Award close on September 6, after which four finalists from each town will be selected and will be advertised for public voting.
Nominations can be made at mpdc.nz/business-awards or by filling in the nomination form the Council in Focus in the Matamata Chronicle and Piako Post.
Only one nomination will be accepted per person.
The Bayleys Business Excellence Awards nominations close on August 25. Businesses are invited to nominate themselves via mpdc.nz/business-awards and answering questions, supplying a business plan or supporting documentation, which will be judged by a panel.
The panel comprises Sue Whiting (Matamata Business Association); Cathy Balvert (Morrinsville Chamber of Commerce); Shaun O’Neill (Te Aroha Business Association); Peter Davey (Waikato Innovation Park); Peter Maxwell (management consultant) and Dennis Turton (Trust Waikato).
The winners of the Customer Service and Business Excellence Awards, as well as the Contribution to Community Award, will be announced on the awards night.
