Matamata-Piako District Council is about to release its draft 10-year plan to the community. The plan will be open for public comment on March 28 and the council has set up a web address where people can view more information and make a submission. The council’s Waharoa (Matamata) Aerodrome Committee will meet this week to preview the plan and decide whether it wants to make a submission too. The council wants people to have their say on the plan because it will help it decide what issues are a priority for the community and then it can set its budgets accordingly. It will also be an avenue to show people how the council intends to spend its money over the next 10 years. A consultation period will open until April 29 and a hearing to review submissions will be held on May 16 and if needed, May 17 as well. The final plan had to be approved by the end of June.
