Calf rearing seminar at Waihou club rooms
Dairy Women’s Network is pairing up with one of their partners, SealesWinslow, to bring an informative module to the East Waikato region.
The Successful Calf Rearing module aims to introduce the importance of setting a plan to ensure for a successful up and coming season.
Regional Leader Astra-lee Burrows said the module is a great opportunity to learn about all aspects of calf rearing.
‘‘We can then implement this knowledge into our own farming systems to grow healthy, strong stock which starts right from day one - in the calf shed,’’ she said.
Wendy Morgan, SealesWinslow’s ruminant specialist, will be presenting a number of topics that will look at existing best practice as well as new research that has recently be published.
Topics include housing and pen set up and understanding the importance of colostrum and the calf’s requirements.
The module is being held on Wednesday June 6 at the Waihou Rugby Club.
