Geyser JPC batted first and scored a respectabl­e 179 runs off their 40 overs. Liam Kelly topscored with 60 runs, including six 4s and one 6, while Eamon O’Donoghue was the next best scorer with 22.

The Geyser bowlers then ripped through the Taupo batting line up for just 51 runs. James Coutts took three wickets for just one run, off one over, Gordy O’Donoghue took two wickets for five runs and Kelly took two wickets for 13 runs. Taupo opener Chris Downes topscored with 27 runs.

In the third game of the round, Central suffered a loss to Taupo Old Boys 1. Lake Taupo 107 all out Geyser City John Paul College Old Boys 179/9 (Liam Kelly 60*, Carl Barker 1/18) beat Taupo Old Boys 2 151/10 (Chris Downes 27*, James Coutts 3/1, Gordy O’Donoghue 2/5) Taupo Old Boys 1 154/9 (Allan Hay 22, Chris Jackson 21, Stephen Thompson 2/24) beat Central CC 153/10 (Aaron Bennett 56, Nathan Hall 29, Thaveen Attanayaka 3/27) Batting first, Central were all out for 153. Aaron Bennett topscored with 53 and Nathan Hall hit 29. Taupo bowler Thaveen Attanayaka took three wickets for 27 runs. The game came down to the wire as Taupo Old Boys lost nine wickets during their run chase, but just got across the line for a onewicket win. Allan Hay and Chris Jackson scored 22 and 21 respective­ly. Central bowler Stephen Thompson took two wickets for 24 runs. Geyser City Western Heights High School Old Boys had the bye.
