Rotorua Museum Summer Pick-a-Path Activity Sheet Enjoy this summer holiday boredom buster for the whole family. Running until February 11, you can collect the Pick-a-Path Activity Sheet from Rotorua Lakes Council reception or download it online. The aim is to move from the start square to the finish square in any order, completing tasks and exploring central Rotorua in the process.

Once you have coloured in your completed challenge boxes, fill in the entry details on the bottom of the activity sheet and enter at Rotorua Lakes Council reception by 12pm February 11 to be in the draw for a prize pack.

Rotorua’s bilingual Taika¯ka¯:

playground, Head to Rotorua’s first bilingual playground for a mix of fun and learning.

The playground promotes te reo Ma¯ori using signage as well as digital games and stories and is a great spot to help you and your children learn more about the district’s rich history.

Hannahs Bay:

The reserve sits on the shores of Lake Rotorua and is surrounded by the revitalisi­ng kahikatea forest. The beach is commonly used for swimming, windsurfin­g and has access for water skiing and jet-skis. With facilities including a mobility playground, dog exercise areas, horse bridle trail, open spaces for recreation­al activities and a wheelchair-accessible wetland walkway, the reserve is the perfect spot for children of all ages.

Geocaching:

All you need is a smartphone and some sturdy walking shoes and you will get hours of fun out of geocaching. The activity involves finding hidden containers using GPS co-ordinates. Each container ranges in size and many contain tradable goodies for the children. The free app can be downloaded on Apple and android phones.
