Lake weed remedy

Te Arawa Lakes Trust is delivering its lakes treatment plan to control aquatic pest weeds in the region. The herbicide Diquat will be used on six lakes including Rotorua, Rotoiti, Tarawera, O¯ kataina, Rotoma¯ and O¯ ka¯reka. A ra¯hui on treatment areas will prohibit swimming, food gathering, and collecting drinking water for 24 hours after operations. Signage will inform lake users when this happens.
