Cop a cop-out

A climate scientist is calling a core agreement reached at this year’s UN Cop27 summit a distraction. Developed nations have pledged to help poorer countries adapt to the fall-out of environmental degradation. But Victoria University’s Adrian Macey says that’s already achievable through the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Macey says the Summit didn’t advance the critical agenda of bringing global warming down to 1.5C.
