Dobbyn confirmed in line-up

-

One of New Zealand’s best-loved music stars will help concert-goers see in the new year in Gisborne this summer.

Sir Dave Dobbyn was last night named among the New Year’s Eve line-up at Rhythm and Vines (R&V).

More than 100 acts will perform at the festival at Waiohika Estate in Gisborne from December 29 through to sunrise on January 1.

Dobbyn, famous for anthems like Loyal, Welcome Home and Slice of Heaven will play the sundown slot.

Dobbyn recently revealed to fans he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

Taking to Facebook last month, the musician said, “I have felt a little shaky for a while now, and in July, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.”

He added that the diagnosis gave him a “wider appreciation of life” and that the musical fire still burned bright.

“Of late I have a tremor in my right hand which gives my guitar playing a new kind of twang. I have to do what I love, so it’s business as usual and on with the show, singing all the way.”

British rapper Dizzee Rascal is among the other big-name performers announced yesterday and will play on December 30 alongside UK drum and bass producer Dimension.

Headlining the opening night, December 29, are UK drum and bass legends Chase & Status, along with Andy C and a New Zealand exclusive performance from electronic producer-duo Camelphat, best known for their 2017 hit Cola.
