Deaths feared

-

Heavy rainfall triggered a huge landslide yesterday on the southern Italian resort island of Ischia. It destroyed buildings and swept parked cars into the sea, leaving at least one person dead and up to 12 missing. The body of one woman was pulled from the mud. Rescuers used small bulldozers to pick through mud and detritus. There was early confusion over the death toll. Vice-premier Matteo Salvini initially said eight people were confirmed dead, but the interior minister said no deaths were confirmed.
