Flag theft shocks

A Ukrainian flag has been stolen from above a Ukrainian-owned Auckland restaurant. Nataliya Shchetkova, who owns La Vista restaurant in St Heliers, woke yesterday morning to find the flag that featured above her business had been cut down. It comes amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Shchetkova said one of her neighbours witnessed a man using a knife to cut down the flag about 12.30am. “It’s unbelievable that it happened in New Zealand, it’s absolutely unacceptable,” she said. Shchetkova has made a formal complaint at Glen Innes police station.
