Slow voting in byelection

Polls opened in the Hamilton West byelection on Monday and so far, fewer than 3000 people have cast their ballots. Electoral Commission figures show when compared with the daily number of votes in the 2020 Tauranga byelection, Hamilton West is lagging behind. Just 670 votes were cast when polls opened on Monday — compared with 1700 on day one in Tauranga .
