Newspaper deals

Hopes new pay agreements with large online platforms, will help smaller newspapers to survive. The Government has drawn up new legislation to incentivise online platforms such as Google and Meta, to pay for content from local news publishers. They are encouraged to strike voluntary agreements, however, if nothing is agreed, the Government’s arbitration processes will take over. Broadcasting Minister Willie Jackson says this is the right thing to do for everyone.
