-

The Prime Minister says Nga¯ ti Maniapoto suffered greatly at the hands of the Crown. Jacinda Ardern has gone to the Ta konganui A-noho Marae in Te Kuiti to apologise in person on behalf of the Crown. It’s part of the treaty settlement which also awarded the iwi financial redress and the return of culturally significant sites.

During her apology yesterday she paid tribute to those who fought for the result. She says for the past six years negotiators worked hard to make sure the Crown recognised it’s wrongdoing.
