$2m funding bid
Rotorua Lakes Council is on track to receive more than $2 million from the Government’s $350m Transport Choices package for 2022-24. The council is one of 46 up for local funding. Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency will work with successful councils in a two-stage process. The first is to further refine and scope their project proposals, with construction beginning on some projects by June 2023. Council infrastructure and environmental solutions deputy chief executive, Stavros Michael, said a priority in its transport plan is the improvement and growth of urban shared paths and cycling networks, to deliver strategic cycling options and safe walkable neighbourhoods for the district.
