This week’s reader’s photo was sent in by Graham Slater. The New Zealand Teachers’ Games 2018 was recently held in Tauranga and Mount Maunganui for the second year. In these games, more than 600 teachers and support staff from schools across New Zealand compete in 18 different disciplines. In the photo (from left) are Talita Clapperton (John Paul College), Vance Shoebridge (Kaharoa School), Ann Brimmer (Rotorua Boys’ High School) and Graham Slater (Western Heights High School). Together, they won a total of 10 medals in Women’s Singles and Doubles, Men’s Singles and Doubles and Mixed Doubles, including gold in the men’s and mixed team competitions. All four players are members of the Hocking Friday Badminton Club, which has been running in Rotorua for more than 30 years.
