New brand reflects evolving services
The recent rebrand from Shane Reid Auto Electrical to Evolution Automotive is a perfect name for the ever-growing nature of this one-stop shop for all things mechanical and auto-electrical.
‘‘Cars, keys, expertise is our slogan,’’ says owner/operator Shane Reid.
‘‘There’s no need to look all over to sort your vehicle out, as we will take care of it all for you, right here.
‘‘Our new name reflects this evolution, as we are constantly upskilling to provide the services that our customers need.’’
Mechanical servicing, WOF repairs, engine replacements and air-conditioning – the expert team at Evolution Automotive does it all.
New services are always being added to the list of things the team can sort out for you.
An example of that was four years ago, when Shane began cutting keys. Since then, it has expanded into a full locksmithing division with state-of-the-art equipment required for modern vehicle key programming.
Picking a business name is often one of the trickiest parts of a rebranding process. And while the standard convention is ‘personal name plus trade’, Shane really wanted to get away from the idea of having just his name above the door.
Office manager Wendy Wolland says the name needed to reflect ‘‘who we are’’.
‘‘And we don’t want to be just like every other garage. That’s not unique and you can find that anywhere. We are bold, we think out of the box, we have fun and we love our work!’’
With this new name, Shane wanted to give the business a chance to grow, and to ensure people knew they were more than just auto electrical, says Sarah Ellem, marketing and communications manager for business advisory firm Baker Tilly Staples Rodway.
Shane, Wendy and Kurt knew what they wanted to achieve and trusted the Baker Tilly team to help them bring their vision and ideas to life.
‘‘We were really pleased to be the team to help Evolution Automotive rebrand,’’ Sarah says.
‘‘It’s a privilege to be involved in a project like this – because you must dive into what makes that brand and the people within the business unique, who their target audience is, their overarching business goals; and think about the customer journey.
‘‘The new brand is one that really stands out. It’s a wonderful brand and the team should be congratulated on building a stronger, more valuable and appealing business.’’
Going out on his own in 2007, Shane has trained and worked in the auto electrical industry for 25 years and built himself a real reputation as the ‘go-to guy’. There’s not a lot that he won’t have a crack at without success.
Kurt Kempton joined him along the way, now with two decades of experience in the mechanical field both in the private and franchise sectors. Together they make a fantastic duo able to work through solutions.
Kendall Stone-Richardson came on board last year as the workload was increasing and has fast become an integral part of the team.
Wendy looks after the office and brings over 25 years’ experience of her own in management, accounts and administration working in all sizes of business, from small family-run enterprises to multi-million-dollar corporations.
Like any workshop, they could not be without the faithful service of Graeme Kempton, who ensures the workshop stays in top condition, and brings some great banter.
‘‘We have become a collaboration of the best experts across our individual fields,’’ Wendy says.
‘‘Evolution Automotive prides itself on being the best South Taranaki has to offer. Clients come back because they trust our word. Our customers become like friends and refer us through word of mouth, which is the best kind of testimonial you can get.’’
Because the team are experienced in a full range of vehicle types, they are always looking at the best options for you. ‘‘We give our customers exactly what you would want in an ideal world. Straight up, plainlanguage advice and service. Just as importantly: fair pricing. We don’t like to surprise people with unexpected bills for work they didn’t know about.’’
Backed by numerous premium suppliers, Evolution Automotive gives you confidence in its services. Evolution Automotive is an agent for Century Battery and Total Oil.
An on-site locksmith and keycutting service means you don’t have to travel out of town and can go to the people you trust for car and house keys, locks and padlocks.
‘‘We’re always adding more depth to our services. We know our stuff!’’ Shane says.
‘‘That’s why everyone from private vehicle owners to fleet and corporate services to homeowners and commercial property owners come to us for their auto-electrical and mechanical needs.’’
Shane and the team would like to thank those that have helped them through this exciting change.
Sarah Ellem from Baker Tilly Staples Rodway, plus Cameron and Vicki Hurley from Zodiac Signs, have really brought the concept and branding to life. This has been supported by a number of other local firms such as Hawera Paper Plus, C-IT Computers, Reid Machining and Engineering, Chris Perrett Electrical, Ben Thomas Panel Beating and Auto City Hawera all providing services and supporting local.
‘‘We’re looking forward to an exciting official launch once we are able to safely host our customers and celebrate,’’ Shane says. ‘‘In the meantime, give us a call, drop us a message or check out our website and Facebook to keep up with what’s new.’’
