-

Police are investigating the serious assault of a 49- year- old man in Mangakino last week.

Information gathered by police indicates that he was set upon when he and several others went to a local address after an earlier incident in the town involving a family member.

The man received serious facial injuries, bruising to his body and lacerations to his head as a result of the attack.

He is recovering in Waikato Hospital.

Detective Rick Rudolph said police are talking to the two groups involved but have not made any arrests at this stage.

Mr Rudolph would like those with information to come forward.

‘‘Anyone with any information about the attack should contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or the Tokoroa police on 07 886 5189.’’ substance was or where it came from, it does highlight the need for us all to take care when washing down vehicles for example, to ensure that contaminants are not discharged into the stormwater system that could harm an environment like Lake Moana- Nui,’’ group assets manager Roger Fisher said.

Waikato Regional Council’s Stephen Ward said more information from the community would be appreciated.

‘‘ From a regional council perspective we are, at this stage, unable to take any action unless more information comes to light that would identify the source.

‘‘ Any information from the community would be helpful,’’ Mr Ward said.
