All set for Daffodil Day on Friday

- By ILONA HANNE

It’s the final countdown for Daffodil Day which takes place this Friday and Raewyn Rooney, chairwoman of the Stratford Daffodil Day committee, says it is set to be a great event this year.

Children are encouraged to get involved and support the event this year, with a fluoro themed fundraising disco taking place on Friday evening.

“The disco is always a popular event and this year we are asking the youngsters to dress up in fluoro colours and come along ready to have a great night with lots of music, dancing and fun.”

The disco is a gold coin entry, says Raewyn, “with all money going to the cause”.

While the younger residents of Stratford will be dancing the night away, there’s plenty happening during the day for all ages, says Raewyn.

“The ever popular luncheon will be on, of course, and we are confident it will be as popular as it always has been. It’s always a great lunch, with lots of people to talk to while you are there.”

Bunches of daffodils will be on sale during the day as well for those who want to take a bit of springtime cheer home with them, and there will be plenty of raffles running on the day as well. “We also have lots of merchandise for sale so make sure you come and check out the stalls and stock up early on great gifts for birthdays, Christmas or simply something to treat yourself with.”
