Scale Ship Regatta on Labour Weekend
All aboard for the annual Scale Ship Regatta taking place at King Edward Park’s boating lake in Ha¯ wera over Labour Weekend.
This year celebrates 22 years of the event, and model boats, warships, tugboats and racing yachts of all types and sizes will sail the waters from the lake edge by remote control units.
South Taranaki community events co-ordinator Liesl Davidson expects a big turnout of participants and spectators over the weekend.
“As well as the model ships, thanks to the Friends of Ha¯ wera Parks, on Saturday from 10am1pm there will be a couple of extra things for children to enjoy, including face painting, making origami boats to race or, for the adults, there will be plants and coffee for sale,” says Liesl.
“This is a good opportunity to get the family in to King Edward Park which is looking its best in preparation for the PowerCo Taranaki Garden Festival the following week. So make the most of it and bring along a picnic to enjoy while watching the boats.” ■ Scale Ship Regatta: King Edward Park Boating Lake,
