Women’s expo popular

- By ILONA HANNE

The Women’s Lifestyle Expo was a huge hit over the weekend.

The two-day expo took place in New Plymouth, giving Taranaki women the opportunity to browse a a wide range of stalls, from locally produced gin to artisan bread, perfumes and home scents through to a wide range of beauty treatments.

Rachel Gillet and Amy Spencer were kept busy at their stall at the expo selling Scentsy, a range of home and personal fragrances.

Amy says she had a stall at last year’s expo as well which had been really successful.

“So I took the opportunity to come back again this year as it’s a great event for showcasing the product range.”

This year Amy says the Saturday had been so busy she and Rachel had to do a restock for the Sunday crowd.

“People have certainly been treating themselves to an item or two. I think the Women’s Expo is great for offering women a little bit of me time, and our range of products fit in with the idea of giving yourself a bit of a treat.”

Shona Gibbons and her daughter Anna were enjoying browsing the stalls at the expo, and the first-time visitors said they would certainly come back to the expo next year.

“I don’t know what I expected really, but I have really enjoyed seeing the range of items for sale today, and having the chance to try before we buy on so many things,” Shona said.

The opportunity to try on wedding dresses had been one of the drawcards for them, said Anna, who gets married in 2019.

“It’s hard, when you work full time, to get to try on dresses without being rushed. This was lovely and we are now walking around a bit while we talk about the dresses I tried on, trying to narrow the choice down a bit.”
