A reunion of Holdens
A family reunion of a different kind is in Ha¯ wera during Labour Weekend.
Cars manufactured by General Motors will be reunited at Ha¯ wera’s TSB Hub as a way to pay homage to the car manufacturer’s closing earlier this year.
Car lovers are being urged to take along any General Motors vehicle to the show from rusted vehicles and barn finds to deluxe show cars.
Organised by the Taranaki Holden Club, the show will be a great opportunity for the public to see what came out of the popular manufacturer’s factory, says club president Graeme Scown.
“The concept was to bring together the many makes and models produced by General Motors, no matter the condition of vehicle. We want to see all vehicles, not just show quality.”
The show is organised by the Taranaki Holden Club and features Holden, Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Vauxhall and Opel.
Graeme says the club holds a Holden show every two years but changed tack this year because it is hosting the New Zealand National Holden Show next year.
The club has received many registrations already and will also feature trade displays, competitions, raffles, giveaways, interactive displays, a bouncy castle and food. Team Kiwi Racing will also be there with a racecar simulator and producers from television show Teng Tools Muscle Garage will film a segment w.
Graeme says Hawera businesses has been very supportive of the show and donated prizes and giveaways.
All show entries will be judged by guests and all trophies and prizes awarded on the day.
