Arthri­tis group in its 25th year

On the third Thurs­day of ev­ery month, around 20 peo­ple meet at the Holy Trin­ity Church hall in Strat­ford to share com­pan­ion­ship and their ex­pe­ri­ences of liv­ing with arthri­tis.

The Strat­ford Arthri­tis Sup­port Group is now in its 25th year and cur­rent pres­i­dent June Phe­lan says the meet­ings nor­mally fol­low the same for­mat of hav­ing a guest speaker be­fore a hot drink and chat.

Some spe­cial guests at­tended Oc­to­ber’s meet­ing, with arthri­tis ed­u­ca­tors Robyn Tuohy and Lori Davis present as well as Arthri­tis New Zealand phi­lan­thropy man­ager Dianne Arm­strong and Isaac Parker, the na­tional co-or­di­na­tor of vol­un­teer en­gage­ment.
