Speech win for grand­daugh­ter

A proud Toko Lions Pres­i­dent Pam Mac­don­ald stands along­side her grand­daugh­ter Pas­coe Wells from Toko School who has just won the Toko and Dis­tricts Lions Ju­nior Speech Maker com­pe­ti­tion. Along­side Pas­coe is the sec­ond place get­ter Erica Bright from Mid­hirst School and third place get­ter Libby Hop­kirk of Makahu School.

This is an an­nual com­pe­ti­tion run by the Toko and Dis­tricts Lions Club where the first four place get­ters are spon­sored to the next level of the Lions 202D Dis­trict Ju­nior Speech Maker com­pe­ti­tion run in

Ha¯ wera in No­vem­ber at which Mathew Jones of Toko School joins Pas­coe, Erica and Libby in rep­re­sent­ing the Eastern Dis­trict Schools.

The two judges from Strat­ford Toast­mas­ter, San­dra Heal and Vicki Done, along with the au­di­ence in the Toko Hall were en­ter­tained by the im­promptu speech topic — What do you want to be when you grow up.
