The Central Milking and Pumping Stratford Premiers Cricket team played New Plymouth Old Boys last Saturday.

After consecutiv­e weeks of rain the Premiers had only nine players. Batting first, Stratford got to 108. Captain Kayne Dunlop held the innings together with a patient 23 and some late hitting from Ellis Taylor with 22 were the top scores. NPOB got off to a quick start. Stratford’s bowlers did well to pull them back but NPOB managed to score the runs five down. Pick of the bowlers was Ian Buchanan with 2/24 off eight overs and Nathan Trumper 2/34.

The Stratford White Cricket Team headed down to Pa¯ tea for their first match of the season at the weekend.

Batting first, Stratford score 149/6 off their 20 overs. The Muir brothers were the main contributo­rs with 30 for Michael and 28 for Connor. Ian Patterson also chimed in with 21 Not out at the end of the innings. Pa¯ tea were never really in the hunt and only managed 73/5 off 20 overs. Pick off the bowlers was Duncan Macdonald with 2/6 off four overs.

The Stratford Old Dogs proved too strong for the Turuturu Titans. Batting first, the Old Dogs scored an impressive 181/1 off their 20 overs. Ali Wicksteed topped scored with 79 not out and Luck Gould not fair behind with 69. In reply the Titans only managed to score 93/9 with father, son combo of Allan and Ben Keene picking up three wickets each, With Tom Higgans getting two and Jaden Rinaldi picking up one.
