Taranaki Indoor Bowls: On May 2 the Taranaki centre held its Open Fours event sponsored by Stratford ITM. Qualifying for post section were T Bourne from Taranaki Centre and C Adams of St Johns club Whanganui. The final of 10 ends was won by C Adams. The following teams will play against Manawatu on May 30 in Marton: K Hughes, E Smailes B Schrader, and R Finlay. R Morris, W Finlay, R Fredrickson, and J Muggeridge. S Bourne, C Reed, A Berry, and S Vince. T Bourne, R Ratahi, K Bird, and B Chapman. Reserve is N Picard. Strathmore Golf Club: On May 2 the best scores were new player Brendon Coupe 52pts, Oliver Smithson 41pts, John Cusdin 39pts, and Rik Caskey 37pts. Rod Walter had twos on the sixth and 13th holes and James Smithson had a two on the 15th. On May 8 the Rebel pennant is on at Strathmore and Sunday, May 9, is the Strathmore Trophy. This is a best nett trophy with all starting at 10am.
Stratford Golf Club: On Saturday the final round of the Stroke play champs was played. Senior champion was Jordan Anderson, Intermediate Grant Kite, and Juniors champion was Tom Fergusson. Randy Aldridge and
Vaughan Jones were the winners of the haggle in their divisions. This week is the start of the match play champs, the draw will be on the club web page. Coastal Adult Riding Club: The Riding Club Jumping Day was held at the Pony Club grounds in Ha¯ wera in showery weather on April 26. The events were judged by David Schumacher of Stratford and Claire Norton from Normanby.
