■ Midhirst Tennis Club: Midhirst 1 played Rotokare 1 at the Rotokare Tennis Club losing 6–0.

Rotokare were the better team on a windy day, and adjusted to the conditions well. Midhirst 2 played Midhirst 3 and won 6–0 on a lovely sunny, but cool day - great conditions to play tennis in.

Lianne Short and Carolyn King made Talia Kowalewski and Rachel Adams work hard for their win, with all other games being keenly contested.

■ Strathmore Golf Club: Twilight on February 23 was played in fine and warm conditions.

Best scores were: Lance Fenton 19, Oliver Smithson 19, Courtney Tibbitt 18, Stein Caskey 17, Vaughan Wood 16 and Rick Caskey 16. Closest to the pin was Mike Johnson.

On Sunday, February 27, members played a nett round for the San Rosa Trophy.

For the men the scores were: James Smithson 67 nett, Cullam Old 72 nett and Oliver Smithson 74 nett. The women’s winner was Sharyn Buchannan 79 nett.

Sunday, March 3, is a free day so the public are invited to come along and enjoy a game of golf. Stratford Avon Bowling Club:

The team of Brian Needham, Theressa Needham, Graham Kelly, and Kevin Sullivan on Wednesday night played in the semifinals of the Junior Bowls3five Taranaki Champs.

They were defeated by Paritutu in a tiebreaker.

On Friday night the penultimat­e round of Business House Bowls3five was played, meaning next week the teams will be playing the team in front of them on the leaderboar­d on finals night.

On Saturday the Digger Mackay Trophy was played at the club by eight teams of triples.

The winning team was Brian Pearce, Rex Hodgetts, and Sheryle Taylor.

Also over the weekend the previously postponed Taranaki First Year Players Open Singles were resumed at Paritutu. Both Brian Eaton and Lindsay Franklin made it through qualifying.

Unfortunat­ely, Brian lost 14-13 in the first knockout round. Lindsay Franklin won his way through to becoming the 2022 Taranaki First Year Players Open Singles Champion.

Sat, March 5: 9am semi and final of Men’s Taranaki Open Triples in conjunctio­n with the 8.30 am Women’s and Men’s Club Champs Triples qualifying. Sun, March 6: 8.30am Women’s and Men’s Club Champs Triples finals. (The scheduled Paynter Cup Singles will be played at a later date) Wed, March 9: 1pm Pat Collins.
