FAREWELL AND WELCOME

-

We always love at the finish of milking going back to the new break of grass Mooman or Bossman give us each day. It is a great opportunity to catch up, tell a few stories (and lies!!) and tell each other what a cool bunch we are. Last Wednesday morning we were relaxing when Isla suddenly stood up and said ‘Oh no, it looks like we are in trouble or do we have a story due?’ Number 1 and Bossman were coming into the paddock and sat down with us to pass on some sad news. They told us they had sold the farm and Dolly’s Milk and the new owner is Marty Bishop. Of course we were very upset – Isla started crying and next thing Number 1 was weeping. ‘Girls we are going to miss you so much but it is time to move on and take a break.’ She told us they were staying in Stratford and will pop in to see us from time to time as they will continue to get Dolly’s Milk as they certainly would not buy ‘the other milk’. Mooman and Moolady will still be around.

So to finish the story we asked Number 1 to continue writing as we all had writers block and the paddock was awash with ‘cow tears’. Pete & I have loved being involved in the Stratford community, we are staying in Stratford and we are really going to miss our wonderful customers. To each and every one, thank you – it has been amazing. The support and assistance that many of you have provided over the 9 years since Dolly’s Milk commenced has been special and the chats, friendships and the stories shared will remain with us. After living in Palmy, Wellington, Bulls, Hawkes Bay, Auckland and Sydney, Stratford District is a very special community and we have been lucky to be part of it. What a ride it has been!

The Dolly’s will continue to supply fresh milk each day. Come on out and support Marty (and Mooman). Marty is an experienced Dairy Farmer having farmed near Patea for 13 years. She is looking to relax a little and Dolly’s Milk fits her future aspirations. A huge thank you and goodbye doesn’t really say enough but these words are genuinely heartfelt.

Marg & Pete (Number 1 and Bossman)
