IT’S SHOW TIME IN TARANAKI

- Advertorial provided by the Stratford A&P Committee

The Stratford A&P Show, where town and country meet.

The annual Show is an allencompassing event that has something for everyone, bringing two days of funfilled action to Taranaki.

In today’s fast paced times where memories are often short, the Stratford A&P Show remains a steady and beloved event deeply rooted in the heritage of Taranaki and its surrounding districts. Held in the showgrounds under the mountain, it’s an institution that has created many memories for the locals and participants.

What makes the event unique is there’s something for everyone. Old McDonald Farm where children can enjoy cuddles with pet animals is a must-see for youngsters with Valais Sheep, Alpaca, Guinea pigs, rabbits, lambs, goat kids, budgies, geese, ducks, Border Collie pups, Kune Kune piglets, Nubian goats and a must is to hold the baby chickens.

Then children go on to the Matahio Kids Zone with lots of free games plus fun activities and special guests. Teenagers will love the side show rides and road safety activity, while adults can enjoy the trade exhibits with the latest innovations on display and lots of opportunity for Christmas shopping.

The livestock competitions are a big drawcard for farmers. Exhibitors from the country’s top-bred animals will be taking part in the Royal Event Pig and Beef sections; the Dairy includes the Ayrshire NZ, North Island Championship. A huge array of horses will be at the show for judging in many sections and Sheep Dog Trials run the course on Saturday and the pet calf and lamb sections run on Sunday.

And yes, the popular farrier, wood chopping, shearing, vintage machinery and military vehicles are back.

The Stratford A&P Show is an institution with many fantastic and hilarious stories to tell. This year’s show aims to make more such memories and create new history for all the locals, participants and visitors. With live stage entertainment throughout the weekend and with many food stalls that will cater to the hungry, it promises to be a real day in the country for families.
