A busy season at MG Taranaki Stratford Speedway
Speedway racing is about to kick off for the new season at MG Taranaki Stratford Speedway and with six national titles to be hosted at the local track, along with all the usual events, organisers will be kept busy and the spectators will have plenty of entertainment options. The new season begins with the R&R Mechanical opening night on October 28th and after the winter layoff, the drivers will no doubt to be keen to get back on the track, test the rebuilt or new cars and see who can win the first races or events. Just one week later on November 4th, the Fireworks Spectacular will provide action both on and off the track and then ensues another seventeen race nights with the season culmination with the final event on April 13th.
As previously mentioned, there will be six National Titles run at Stratford this season, bringing drivers, crews and spectators into the Taranaki region and more specifically to Stratford. The first national event scheduled is the North Island Saloon Championship on December 9th.
The Sentry Hill Motel New Zealand Stockcar Championship will run on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th January and will bring together the ultimate field of Stockcars. Taranaki, Stratford and the Speedway will all be pumping as up to two hundred competitors will converge here to decide who the new New Zealand Champion will be. Just two weeks later the New Zealand Streetstock Grand Prix will be held on Friday January 26th and Saturday January 27th, the second night been matched with the West Coast Stockcar Teams Champs and the 26 and Under Superstock Champs to make the ultimate speedway meeting for fans of contact racing.
February 17th sees the running of the New Zealand Minisprint Championship which will delight open wheel race fans while the New Zealand Modified Championship on Friday March 8th and Saturday March 9th will showcase the high horsepowered, big winged cars that absolutely fly around the Stratford Oval.
The last national title to run is the New Zealand Saloon Grand Prix on March 23rd.
