It’s show weekend in Taranaki and with something for everyone, it’s bound to please and bring town and country together with two packed days of entertainment and activities.

This year’s show brings an entirely new section that can give you a true hands-on experience and even win you prizes! The Home Industries section gives those young and young at heart the opportunity to decorate a gumboot or create an Aquajar. You might like to try making a vege creation and there’s even the chance to get creative with Lego! With classes for pre-schoolers to 13 years, and categories for adults, you can win some fantastic prize money and vouchers.

You can’t come to the show and not see the animal exhibits and this year, the North Island Championships for NZ Holstein Friesians will be held at the showgrounds. Exhibitors from all over New Zealand bring the ‘best’ of animals to parade in the Dairy, Beef, Pig, Horse and Sheep Dog Trial sections, always a highlight to see who will win the animal beauty pageant. Kids can enter the pet calf and lamb competition on the Sunday and be in to win some great prizes while having loads of fun showcasing their special friends.

Old McDonald Farm is always popular with the younger generation as they get up close and personal with some of the cutest animals. From wee Piglets, Lambs, Chickens, Goats and more, it’s all there and a great place to get some photos. The Matahio Kids Zone is amazing with all the free activity for the children from the bouncy castles to painted faces, the glitter tattoos and exploring in the ball pit for prizes, seeing the big smiles brings joy to all.

You will want to participate in the KiwiSpan Challenge with prize money up for grabs, come put together a kitset shed, use a saw, a hammer, compete against your friends. The popular wood chopping, shearing and national farrier championships always draw a big crowd along with the old vintage machinery and military vehicles on display.

With over 100 trade exhibits, shopping for Christmas won’t leave you short of options from arts and crafts, to the latest gadgets, to the massive machinery; you’ll not want to miss out on the show specials either. Businesses and Community groups draw attention to the visitor with activities like digger operation, train rides, dunk that clown, plus much more.

You won’t get hungry with all the food options and the delicious treats and it can’t be an A & P Show without all the rides. Mahon’s Amusements are back and will be bringing those thrills that we all love to push our scare factor just a little bit.

The Stratford A & P Show will create memories for a lifetime and you definitely won’t want to miss it. With children 14 and under free and adults just $15 to enter – you can spend a whole day absorbed in the fun of the fair, quite literally
