Zero is minus

Isn’t a zero budget actually a negative budget? Because if we are not going forward, we are not standing still either.

Our skilled workforce is departing for Australia and other more promising countries at an alarming rate.

Our children’s education is our future. If we do not provide the highest standard possible, our workforce of the future will not be able to compete.

Early childhood education, provision for children with special needs and technology need particular attention. The idea of increasing class sizes seems insane.

I can’t help wondering who the government will target next for funds, after they have run out of the kids’ pocket money and the money recouped from an increase in prescription charges that hits mainly the sick and elderly.

This budget seems to me a bottom-of-the-barrel budget. Observer
