Rich subsidised

-

I feel incensed at John Key saying we can’t afford to pay aged care workers any more for the incredibly difficult and skilled work they do.

Is John Key happy to live in a country where top executives get salaries in the millions and those who care for the elderly . . . get the minimum wage?

We had enough money for the Rugby World Cup and we have enough money to pay generous salaries to politicians – now let’s give aged care workers a living wage.

A decent society does not subsidise the lifestyle of the rich at the expense of paperboys’ pocket money, increased prescription charges for the sick, and the wages of aged care workers. Fair Deal
